Methodology
Score methodology v1.0 · published 4 October 2026
Quick answer
The SnaggingFinder Editorial Score is the equal-weighted average of five dimension scores, rounded to the nearest 0.5. It is an editorial assessment, not an average of customer reviews. The inspector table is ordered by this score.
Who can be listed
We list UK companies that offer snagging inspections of new build homes to private buyers and publish their services and prices on their own website. A professional-body membership is not required to be listed, but each listing states clearly whether the company is RICS regulated, an RPSA member or CIOB accredited.
What we check, and what “verified” means
- Qualifications — recorded as stated by the provider. Each listing names the professional body so you can confirm membership on that body's own register before booking.
- Pricing — the “from” prices published by the provider at the time of verification. Prices change; always confirm with the inspector.
- Coverage — the areas the provider states it serves (nationwide, or named regions).
- Turnaround — the report turnaround the provider advertises.
A Verified badge means the listing was checked against the provider's own published information in the month shown. It is not an endorsement or an audit of the provider's work. Each profile shows its last-verified month and when its next review is due (six months after the last check), so you can see how current a listing is.
How the score is calculated
| Dimension | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Inspection Quality | 20% | Thoroughness of the on-site inspection, inspector credentials and scope of checks offered. |
| Report Detail | 20% | Clarity, photography and actionability of the written report a builder receives. |
| Value for Money | 20% | Published price relative to the services and qualifications included. |
| Report Speed | 20% | Stated report turnaround time after the inspection. |
| Customer Service | 20% | Booking process, communication and aftercare offered. |
overall = round((quality + report + value + speed + service) / 5 ÷ 0.5) × 0.5
Dimension scores are on a 0–10 scale and are set editorially from the provider's published service scope, sample reports, stated turnaround, price and qualifications. Qualifications inform the Inspection Quality dimension; they are not a separate weighted dimension. Every published overall score is re-computed from its inputs at build time and the site will not publish if one does not match.

Featured listings, referrals and ranking
The inspector comparison table is ordered by overall score. The “Recommended” label is an editorial selection and is not an input to the score. We do not accept payment for favourable placement. We may receive a referral fee or affiliate commission when a buyer books through us — see the affiliate disclosure.
Prices, statistics and warranty statements
Factual claims on the site are tied to a source record that states the publisher, scope and when it was last checked. Calculated figures (such as the published price range) are derived from listing data. The full register is on the sources page. Warranty and legal statements state the jurisdiction they apply to and are general guidance, not legal advice.
